BBC used “Calibrated Reporting” in covering climate change

Last month the BBC Trust announced that it would perform an internal investigation into charges of bias in the BBC in it’s coverage of climate change. The Daily Express has reported on the brewing scandal.

First, they address the little problem of eight billion pounds of investments that are counting on global warming and cap-and-trade:

The £8billion pension fund is likely to come under close scrutiny over its commitment to promote a low-carbon economy while struggling to reverse an estimated £2billion deficit.

Concerns are growing that BBC journalists and their bosses regard disputed scientific theory that climate change is caused by mankind as “mainstream” while huge sums of employees’ money is invested in companies whose success depends on the theory being widely accepted.

And then on to the biased reporting. Veteran journalist and former BBC newsreader Peter Sissons recently said:

“The corporation’s most famous interrogators invariably begin by accepting that ‘the science is settled’ when there are countless reputable scientists and climatologists producing work that says it isn’t. It is, in effect, BBC policy, enthusiastically carried out by the BBC’s environment correspondents, that those views should not be heard.

“I was not proud to be working for an organisation with a corporate mind so closed on such an important issue.”

The Daily Express continues:

Official BBC editorial policy governing how its correspondents should cover global warming was revealed after a member of the public wrote in: “I have heard reports that the BBC has decided not to broadcast any news or reports which disprove, disagree, or cast doubt on global warming theory. Could you provide some form of justification for this?”

In a reply dated October 26 last year, Stephanie Harris, Head of Accountability at BBC News, said: “BBC News takes the view that our reporting needs to be calibrated to take into account the scientific consensus that global warming is man-made.”

She went on to quote from a BBC-commissioned report published in June 2007, which said: “There may be now a broad scientific consensus that climate change is definitely happening and that it is at least predominantly man-made. The weight of evidence no longer justifies equal space being given to opponents of the consensus.”

Calibrated reporting? Now that’s a new term to add to the lexicon of media bias.

One more pretender bites the dust.BBC has totally demolished and pulverised its reputation for truthfulness and accuracy not only in matters of climate change but also several other stories.
Idiots at the helm do not seem to understand it needs much time and effort to BUILD reputation and credibility but lot less to demolish them.

I think the idiots at the top don’t care much for BBC’s reputation, just their own pay-packets, oh and pensions… ;-)

It is quite likely that many BBC and other media editors have attended lectures and briefings from Futerra and Greenpeace to be Sizzled by the climate warming plot.
One of the stated aims in the Climate Manual is to educate eitors in the media ,does this mean “Brainwash”or just “influence”.
In any case ,even the casual observer of the media has been assaulted by impending Climate Doom illustrated with manufactured video footage, some of the LIES directed at our “CHILDREN”.
Any RESPONSIBLE broadcaster, especially a public one must report the TRUTH,not stories wriien by people who happen to passing glaciers or cuddling polar bears.
To a licence payer, the BBC has been duped by what the QUEEN called DARK FORCES into going along with the gravey train boys and girls, content to live it up at international events on OUR money.
Any reporter worth their salt could look at the machinations of the IPCC and world leaders enthusiam for NEW TAX possiblities and smell a RAT.
    Only two possibilities really ,
either the BBC has been “suckered” ,like a lot of innocent people,
OR IS PART OF THE “GAME” illustrated in DEFRA/FUTERRA and GREENPEACE literature. eg,Defra.gov.uk.
