Can’t Hide the Decline of Google “Climategate” search results
Air Vent today brought up something we’ve been noticing as well. At one point, there were over 50 million Google search results for for the term “climategate.” When we purchased the domain name climategate.com a couple months ago, I remember there were just over ten million, and since then we’ve watched the number dwindle down what we have today: 1,950,000. In fact, when Air Vent wrote their article earlier today, they said it showed 2.2 million results. Between our two testings, that’s a quarter of a million fewer pages in less than a day. At this rate, climategate will cease to exist on Google in eight more days.
So what of the other search engines. Here are the numbers at this very moment:
Yahoo: 30,100,000
Bing: 51,400,000
No declines with them.
Put this together with their buddies over at Wikipedia who don’t call the climategate page “climategate” (they call it “Climatic Research Unit hacking incident”); and with their buddies over at GE who are working with them in green energy projects, and it kind of make one wonder, don’t it now?
Not that Google would ever manipulate their data. Here, you can prove it yourself. Goto to Google.com and key in the search field, “Christianity is” and see all the auto suggestions like “Christinaity is bullshit” that come up. Then try it with any other religion, except Islam. When you are done with the world’s religions, try “Islam is.” Huh? There is nothing there.
You see, just as Google is watching out for our best interests and not discouraging negative comments towards Islam, they also know that it’s in our best interest to not keep on keeping on with the absurd “Denier” crap.
Here’s to the thought police.

I dis a search for Climategate on Jan 1st. and Google is diminishing its results…
However, note that if the word is presented as Climate gate
the results shoot up.
The problem with two word queries is that search engines do a boolean “AND” query with them, where both words must be one the page, but either word can be anywhere on the page. So in this case, the 14 million results are for pages with the two words on them, not necessarily next to each other. In fact, 13 million of them do not have the words next to each other, because of you do the search “climate gate” (with the quotes), it will search for that exact phrase–and that produces just over one million page results.
Ah ha. Thanks for that. Darn sneaky search engines.
Google are damaging their reputation BIG time these days.
While Google has put “climategate” back in Google Suggest on google.com, they have still not put it back on youtube.com (owned by Google) as you can see:

By now, there is no doubt that they are fiddling with the results over at Google. I repeat: no doubt. They explained that it had to do with peculiarities in algorithms, but this is pure nonsense.
“At this rate, climategate will cease to exist on Google in eight more days”.
Quite startling that Google would attempt this, also frightening. Pravda, the propaganda arm of the Soviet Union, would retouch a photo in order to eliminate a Party member who was out of favour. I never thought this technique would be attempted, never mind so blatantly in N. America.
Google is becoming a Frankenstein, but what to do. I’m doubtful that boycotting will accomplish anything due to Google’s grip.
i have screengrabs going back to Nov/Dec illustrating the discrepancy between google [ie declining hits] and other search engines. this has been going on since a couple of weeks after the scandal broke. bl00dy crim’s the lot of them!
Google is an ultra leftwing company. This is just the latest evidence. I swiched to Bing.
We can help give them a shove out of our lives by NOT using them.
1.Why would anyone waste time referring to Wlyingpedia when other sources are available?
2.Ditch the boondo(o)ggle. There are many others who will give you the information AND respect your privacy e.g. smartpage.com
We rule only if we will don the Crown and get down to the very serious business of being our own guardians.
YES! what a concept BEING OUR OWN GUARDIANS
Hi there:
Bulldust here (I generally hang around on Aussie newspaper blogs and WUWT), who you may remember as the person (despicably) responsible for first coining the term Climategate. For that I apologise right off the bat
I note on your “About” page that you are making quadrillions as an oil company shill, so I expect my royalty cheque shall be in the mail shortly, no?…
On a more serious, and on topic, note this issue was raised at Google on their search help forums:
http://www.google.com/support/forum/p/Web+Search/thread?hl=en&tid=25112ee0c29cbd01#all
Their responses regarding the lack of “Climategate” on auto-suggest lists (as it was at the time) was entirely inadequate. What I am sure is totally unrelated information is that:
1) Al Gore is a special advisor to Google (see his Wikipedia entry)
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Al_Gore
2) Sergey Brin and Larry Page (the Google cofounders… or is that confounders?) both have 7.5 billion British pounds (each) invested in green energy projects:
http://business.timesonline.co.uk/tol/business/specials/article5816774.ece
Now I am sure these facts are entirely coincidental *cough* but quite remarkable, don’t you think?
just type “al gore is” and see what google suggests!
That’s it for me and Google, then.
I’ve already, in utter disgust, stopped using Wikipedia for anything but PC game walkthroughs, and have not found myself short of alternatives – not once!
Interesting to note that Wikipedia is at the top of almost every Google search I do…
The abuse of power and privilege should come as no surprise.
I use Bing and yahoo.
Google in the UK gives 13.7 million hits, whereas Google US come up with 2.67 million.
How very suspicious……..
