We’re now #1, ahead of Wikipedia

Three months ago climategate.com didn’t exist. A couple months ago you couldn’t find us in the search engines. In the last month we’ve been pleased our hard work has paid off and we’ve been on the first page of Google for the search term climategate. But lately we’d been stuck at the #2 position behind the Wikipedia page on the subject. Not any longer. We’re #1 now!

However, what had really pissed me off is knowing that Wikipedia won’t even call their climategate page “climategate.” If you follow their now #2 positioned search results listing to the Wikipedia page, you end up on the page, wikipedia.org/wiki/Climatic_Research_Unit_hacking_incident, and it’s titled, “Climatic Research Unit hacking incident” on the page.

Hell, in my opinion, they shouldn’t even be anywhere on the first page, given all the hanky panky that went on over there regarding climate change. (Read Wikipedia’s climate change doctors, Radical editors still rule Wikipedia climate change propaganda and Sneaky bastards at Wikipedia to delete “climategate” page?

We wonder if there is another such extremely popular event at Wikipedia that doesn’t that have its proper heading on the page, and the term in the URL. Can you find one?

Anyway, It’s a good thing to know that people searching for climategate will come across this site on the list before they do wikipedia now. But then again, we don’t control internet search–some of Al Gore’s friends do.

In which case, I guess you can expect to be below number 1 before long.. but congratulations on reaching it before they noticed!

You have earned your popularity. It is well-deserved and it will grow much more.

As for Wikipedia, Climategate has taught college professors and high school teachers throughout the world that Wikipedia is controlled by Left Wing Hacks who tell only the Left Wing Hack side of any story about climate science. For some time, we have told our students that they are not permitted to use Wikipedia for serious work. Now we have to tell them that they cannot use it for fun. We tell them that they can use it for self-delusion.

Wiki is getting less and less reliable. The alarmists control the pages so the truth about climategate is hid.

I edit Wikipedia off and on so I can, perhaps, shed some light on the technical reasons why this is happening. Wikipedia tries to stay as neutral as possible so any terms such as ‘Climategate’, which would of course be biased towards one side [and one that I agree with fully!] of the issue.

In this case Climategate is a moniker that many individuals know the event under, so a page on Wikipedia, ‘Climategate’ would be made where the code is simply a re-direct to the article. This method is used for common spelling errors as well. Unfortunately as more and more people search for Climategate on Wikipedia and Google the higher it will be ranked.

But regardless – congratulations on the well deserved #1 Ranking. I only became aware of Climategate a few weeks ago, and have been reading everything on this site since.

congratulations John and team; well deserved for all your hard work

  7. I get you at #3 on google.com for ‘climategate’ and #4 for ‘climate gate’. Hopefully, over time your website will have little effect on the SERPs for more important search terms.
