Dr. Rajendra Pachauri is a liar, and now he’s busted
We just woke up in California to read the breaking story of Dr. Rajendra Pachauri being busted for a bald-faced lie regarding Glaciergate. No time yet to write it up ourselves, so let’s just go straight to the UK Times article for the story.
The chairman of the leading climate change watchdog was informed that claims about melting Himalayan glaciers were false before the Copenhagen summit, The Times has learnt.
Rajendra Pachauri was told that the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change assessment that the glaciers would disappear by 2035 was wrong, but he waited two months to correct it. He failed to act despite learning that the claim had been refuted by several leading glaciologists.
The IPCC’s report underpinned the proposals at Copenhagen for drastic cuts in global emissions.
Dr Pachauri, who played a leading role at the summit, corrected the error last week after coming under media pressure. He told The Times on January 22 that he had only known about the error for a few days. He said: “I became aware of this when it was reported in the media about ten days ago. Before that, it was really not made known. Nobody brought it to my attention. There were statements, but we never looked at this 2035 number.”
Asked whether he had deliberately kept silent about the error to avoid embarrassment at Copenhagen, he said: “That’s ridiculous. It never came to my attention before the Copenhagen summit. It wasn’t in the public sphere.”
However, a prominent science journalist said that he had asked Dr Pachauri about the 2035 error last November. Pallava Bagla, who writes for Science journal, said he had asked Dr Pachauri about the error. He said that Dr Pachauri had replied: “I don’t have anything to add on glaciers.”

Here are two other good takes on the breaking story:
More information for the UN, Barack Obama and Al Gore to ignore. Where the hell is that chickenshit Al Gore hiding out lately anyway?

You know how a glacier makes a very loud cracking sound when it breaks? Well there it is. Lied, covered-up, lied about the cover-up. A man heading an organization which can summon a meeting of the world’s leaders to take drastic action based on …. well crap. Our President ceratainly has proven that he doesn’t get it. Having taken a large political butt-whipping on his first agenda item he is signalling full-speed-ahead on the second. Like many of those who commented in The Times we have a problem of convergance here. Both major Parties have bought into this claptrap at the highest levels but that’s about to change. The GOP must do an about face and drive this issue back into the hearts of it’s creators. If they do not we will move to a third party. No compromise.
Feel free to post links to other articles at our friends’ websites that might have a good take on this story, as we go through the weekend.
The British and foreign press has been so slow in lifting the climate smokescreen ,along with most of the rest of the world newsvendors . It makes you think they may have been part of the brotherhood of climate warmers ,having been indoctrinated by Green- terra and the rest of the Sizzelers at there workshops for the “people of influence”
Only coming out of the woodwork when the “GAME” is up

In other news, if http://www.telegraph.co.uk/culture/tvandradio/7113152/Anti-abortion-campaigner-Veronica-Connolly-launches-licence-fee-test-case-against-BBC.html goes against BBC then I presume one could make an argument for not paying BBC licence fee on AGW grounds…
And to boot, his doctorate is not in climate science, his doctorate is in economics – which all lends support that this issue has and always was about money, and not about the health of the environment.
I have found that if you challenge people about the core issues of man made global warming i.e. the carbon tax they can’t disagree on the logic. In a much as a carbon tax will allow companies to continue to pollute by purchasing carbon credits, the end customer i.e. you and me will pick up the tab, all carbon tax will achieve is a transfer of wealth.
If you man made CO2 truely was a problem the only way to resolve the problem would be through innovation, the use of technology such as water powered vehicles, cleaner aviation, electricity self generation through wind and solar, and large scale projects such as the French efforts towards cold fusion.
