EPA passes out $7.8 million to combat non-existent Anthropogenic Global Warming

Need to pay to get your house repainted? It can wait. The most important thing is that your tax dollars go to helping others improve their homes. You guessed it, tax payer money will be going to communities under the “green” cause. Doesn’t sound like socialism to me Al. But at least we might be one step closer to saving our planet from that overwhelming science.

An EPA press release states:

WASHINGTON – The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency announced today that 20 U.S. communities, including two Indian Tribes, will receive $7.8 million in grants for projects that will reduce greenhouse gases (GHGs). The funds will help Climate Showcase Communities increase energy efficiency, saving consumers money and reducing harmful greenhouse gas emissions.

Ahem!

“These communities see the overwhelming scientific evidence on climate change and are working with EPA to fight back,” said EPA Administrator Lisa P. Jackson. “We’re working on innovative, win-win strategies that reduce greenhouse gases and cut energy bills for families and businesses — strategies that can be put in place to fight climate change in communities from Utah and Ohio to China and India.”

Giggle, giggle. Overwhelming evidence? Phil Jones isn’t even using that one anymore.

Preliminary calculations by the grant applicants estimate that by 2012 the projects will reduce about 135,000 metric tons of greenhouse gas emissions annually—equivalent to the emissions from 25,000 passenger vehicles or 12,000 homes and save more than $4.5 million per year in energy costs. Several projects are expected to create or maintain jobs and provide green job training.

Sounds like this may stop global warming single-handedly! Or, they plan on nuking an entire mid-sized town someplace in the midwest.

…..and if that’s not enough….they plan on throwing more money out the window!

EPA will monitor the progress of grant recipients and will post quarterly updates about each recipient online. An additional $2.2 million is still under review and is expected to be awarded in the next few months to five additional local and tribal governments.

I think I’m sending a letter in that I am planning on not farting anymore and see if I can get some money to implement my plan…..a few million should do it…and my wife will be much happier..

I’m wondering what kind of information will be in the quarterly updates about these programs? I hope it includes data about increases in emissions due to activities they’re conducting in order to reduce emissions.

I’ll give the EPA credit: they have data about the population of each area so if they produce data on emission reductions it’ll be easy to work out whether they’re making a difference in terms of per capita.

In 2005, the US overall had emissions per capita of 23.5 tonnes (ranked 7th in the world)

    That’s amazing.

You have to believe in AGW or you don’t get any money?.

That would be fair if you don’t believe it, you don’t have to pay the tax.

I think Stalin and Chairman Mao worked that way too. Mao had a Little Red Book you had to wave in the air. Maybe the AGW cause has one too.

What does it mean by community? Is that all the residents of Tulsa? I always thought that the native Americans were among the wealthy elite, but maybe I’m wrong. Distributing money on racial grounds sounds very disturbing and political suicide.

Broad key in Florida has a spectacular boat house and a deep-water dock – perfect for fishing, snorkelling and water sports. It’s near the Ocean Reef Club and Miami International Airport and has a five-bedroom home, guest cottages, and a fabulous asking price of $200 million.

and to imagine in 40 years time this island, according to the Gore prophecy, will be under water. You would think islands like this would be sold for wasteland prices. :)

So, in other words, it will compensate for Captain Carbon’s Tennessee mansion.

Interesting that you chose “If you want your house repainted” as a casual starting point. Actually, if you want your house repainted, the EPA has just made it vastly more expensive. New rules require painters and remodelers to do the whole Hazmat routine when scraping off old paint, with a trained Lead Consultant on hand. Lead is going to be treated like asbestos.

  6. John D. Nier says:

If the EPA doesn’t get reigned in by someone they will soon have nothing to do because everyone will be bankrupt. This lead paint is BS, every house I grew up in had lead in the paint. It was only a problem if you had some moron child who ate the paint.

They also had a ban on motorcycles for kids because of lead. This finally got thrown out. Think of the stupidity. Some kid’s going to eat a brake pedal?

    • Matt G says:

survival of the fittest. If a kid eats lead paint chips and dies, he is not able to pollute the earth by reproducing. Problem solved! Unfortunately, not enough kids ate lead paint in the past, and grew up to become liberals.

    • mel64d says:

I’ve always heard that lead was bad, really , how bad is it. This is going to sound stupid but when I was a boy living in Texas as I still do. My friends and I all had pellet guns. The pellets are solid lead. Guess where we would keep the pellets? Not in the container they came in, but in (I know this is stupid) mouths! We would even chew them like gum. I am 37 now and have only been sick 3 times in my whole life (in bed sick). My health has never been a problem. So just how bad is lead? Maybe im just lucky.

John, I believe you’re worth a couple of million dollars for not farting anymore, your wife might think it’s worth even more.

However, taking into account the monitoring costs, we may have to reduce it to $1.5M!

I think that a reasoned suggestion like this, put to the EPA, should have a good chance of success.

  8. Matt G says:

Overwhelming evidence? That’s laughable. But remember, before November, the adjective used was CONCLUSIVE, now it’s overwhelming, so they’re getting closer to the true adjective MANUFACTURED. Warmists play funny word games. Remember, once it was GLOBAL WARMING, now it’s climate change. Climate change? Really? The climate is constantly changing. Now I read global warming causes it to snow more……or less, depending on where you are. Also, global warming causes sea levels to rise……but, increased evaporation from these ever expanding seas causes increased oceanic salinity. Give me a break. They can’t even agree on which slant they want to take. I have a hard time keeping up. Someone let me know when we can bury this garbage “science”? once and for all.
