EU plans first federal tax, but don’t worry, it’s green

Europeans have long traded excessive taxation for being taken care of by the government.  But I have a feeling that they too, like us Americans, are at a tipping point.  Damn the growing evidence that climate science hasn’t been so scientific, the EU is about to get hit with their first “federal” tax under the pretext of saving the planet for our children.

In a flexing of its federal muscle the European Union (EU) is reported as drawing up plans for its first direct tax with proposals expected to be announced next month that will provide the United States of Europe with its first funding derived from direct taxation.

Although many people are ignorant of the fact the EU has appointed a “commissioner for taxation” who is said to be planning a “minimum rate of tax on carbon” to be imposed across the federal union.

How will the citizens of the EU be taxed?

“We should have a mechanism which would serve to exploit the possibility, in a progressive way, to lead to direct funding of the EU”.

The proposed federal tax will lead directly to rises in petrol and energy bills and indirectly to price increases relating to the production and distribution of goods.

The think-tank Open Europe has calculated, on the basis of the shelved 2005 proposal, that based on a £9 levy on a tonne of CO2, that the cost of the new tax to British businesses and consumers would be at least £3 billion.

And what do the member nations of the EU think about this?  We don’t know about the rest, but France and Sweden are are enthusiastic supporters of an EU carbon tax “as a part of Europe’s fight against climate change.”

I have a feeling that European citizens are becoming less “progressive” than their governments, and are not ready to join the New Green Order.  How do you say Tea Party in Eurospeak?

The comment I heard being suggested was that the EU was considering an extra tax on petrol, but on top of suggestions of extra tax on food and other tax rises by the UK government, I think there is a real risk of civil disorder.

Gordon Brown is carrying Soviet-style news suppression to an extreme unknown before in the UK. Of course it will only act as a spur for journalists.

The citizens are less important than the TAX.
Agree Europe has become a SOVIET state wher the citizens have NO say in the Governance.
    NO TAXATION WITHOUT REFERENDUM.

    Vote UKIP!

  4. Graham says:

That’s what I’m going to do DougS. This isn’t a political issue, more an issue of sanity, but they’re one of the few UK parties that appear not to have had their politicians taken over by Triffids.(reference to the novel and film ‘Day of the Triffids).

  5. Kees Bruin says:

This is simply in line with the whole EU-project: they are working towards an ever more centralised, anti-democratic Union. Taxation is part of that, centralised economic planning will follow. The EU is simply a disaster, getting bigger and nastier as it goes on. Very sad stuff indeed!

  7. In Holland they already pay taxes at the gas station and per mile

And yes there’s too much taxation in Europe. . .
Socialist governments create a bad economy and then make people depemd on their subsidies.

Then take a look at this too

  8. Graham says:

I also post on a mainstream serious UK political site and I daren’t even mention that Pedro, though I may do later.

UK councils are trying to snoop on houses for ‘green’ purposes and my council tried to view my property, but anyone trying that with me will feel my boot on their backside.

This development is worrying and would allow council officials to become ‘green police’.

Associated Press story published in the Washington Post, November 2, 1922. [page 2]
Arctic Ocean Getting Warm; Seals Vanish and Icebergs Melt.
The Arctic ocean is warming up, icebergs are growing scarcer and in some places the seals are finding the water too hot, according to a report to the Commerce Department yesterday from Consul Ifft, at Bergen, Norway.
Reports from fishermen, seal hunters and explorers, he declared, all point to a radical change in climate conditions and hitherto unheard-of temperatures in the Arctic zone. Exploration expeditions report that scarcely any ice has been met with as far north as 81 degrees 29 minutes. Soundings to a depth of 3,100 meters showed the gulf stream still very warm.
Great masses of ice have been replaced by moraines of earth and stones, the report continued, while at many points well known glaciers have entirely disappeared. Very few seals and no white fish are found in the eastern Arctic, while vast shoals of herring and smelts, which have never before ventured so far north, are being encountered in the old seal fishing grounds.

When we formed our city we were told there would be no new taxes … since then, the lies never stop. Yes I voted NO!!!

People get what they want, and the free lunch is a really big lure to the useful idiots. Over 250 million useful idiots died in the 20th century because of this obsession with the free lunch … which never comes.

Stalin’s famous May Day utterance was “peace, jobs and democracy” — 100% lies.

The AGW mob are acting like the android from the original Alien film after it got its head chopped off. They’re producing a barrage of ridiculous scare stories even more stupid than their original ones. They’re using Dr Peter Stott from the Met Office, but unfortunately his name crops up on the Climategate e-mails – DOHHHHH

Another story relates to loss of bio-diversity, never thinking of bio-mass fuel plants for example, that are being built in the UK. They feed on massive amounts of ‘sustainable’ wood, undoubtedly non-indigenous fast growing species that provide no habitat.

I’ll do an article some time, but most of these eco-projects are actually doing harm to the environment, but they blame it on mythical Global Warming.
