It's one of those "Warm means global warming but cold is just weather" moments. As I'm certain is the case in the EU countries promises have been made by politicians which cannot possibly be kept at current tax rates. Increasing taxation on capital will not bring in nearly enough money. Either the jig is up or a massive general tax increase must be imposed. Impose the tax increase on party lines and you go down at the polls. Let the scheme fail and there will be severe and unpredictable consequences (see Greece) Right now those who have the most at stake in the USA are negotiating with their political rivals. They will give a little on nuclear and oil for a deal. If the GOP Senators strike a corrupt bargin I will bail on them and hope many others do also.
