James Hansen, the director of NASAs Goddard Institute for Space Studies, and the man who some say brought global warming to the world, spoke on climate change and energy in Melbourne, Australia today.
Dr Hansen, of course, said the answer to climate change must include a rising carbon tax. And he also had something to say about coal.
I don’t intend to be telling Australia what they should do for their energy source except that they can’t continue to burn coal without screwing everybody – including my grandchildren.
And exporting coal, and increasing exports of coal, is almost equivalent to being a drug dealer to the world.
We wonder what he believes should be the punishment for these “coal dealers.”
You think Hansen would not be for putting “climate criminals” in jail? Well then, you don’t know the man, Did you know that he advocates a world without the current system of industrial civilization, with “no cities, no paved roads, no pylons, no offices or factories?” It’s true. This is what radical Keith Farnish writes about in his nutty book called Time’s Up!: An Uncivilized Solution to a Global Crisis, and if you look at the back cover you’ll see Hansen recommends it, saying, “Keith Farnish has it right: time has practically run out, and the ‘system’ is the problem.”
If he’s willing to take apart cities, and returning to the middle ages, you better believe he has no problem making criminals out of coal dealers.
