Take a careful look at your denier boy Gavin I-know-I-look-a-fool-why-won’t-the-cool-kids-play-with-me-oh-God-I-shat my underpants Schmidt. You might notice some strange psychological undercurrents right off the bat.

I'm sure it's mere coincidence, but it still makes me nervous that all the aging hippies (John Holdren, Paul Ehrlich, etc.) who want the U.S. to hand out trillions in "climate justice debt" payments to third-world tinhorn dictators, are the same crowd that, thirty to forty years ago, wanted the U.S. to hand out billions to the same crew, as reparations for the scars of colonialism.

It seems suspiciously like this whole process began with a clear endgame (politically and economically) firmly in mind. Thereafter, it was merely a question of making the science agree. Conspiracy? You bet your ass.

Keep in mind that a political campaign is a conspiracy. The practice sessions leading up to a football game constitute an ongoing conspiracy. So conspiracies are all over the place. I wouldn't be surprised if some of the deniers in this conspiracy, particularly Michael "Stick" Mann, end up behind bars.

Humanpersonjur..

I doubt you did it intentionally but you couldn't have used a better expression than"wild eyed fanatic", either positively or negatively with reference to Lord Monckton.

I sincerely hope that you don't take this as an ad hominem attack on either you or his Lordship as I point it out merely as an observation.

Kaboom

Yes, you are quite correct. Forgive me father for I have sinned. But after typing thousands of well-intentioned words in a vain attempt to squeeze something resembling logic out of CottShop I was in a weakened condition and couldn't resist.

But as to your assertion that we must respond to the deniers with SCIENCE.. I'm afraid they are generally impervious to such attempts at outreach.

This, however, is no excuse and I shall try my damnedest to stick to the high road from here on.

You gave me the option to be dishonest. I refused. I can see why that would confound you.

Usefulness (also called utility) is a neutral term. A useful person, one who possesses utility, can be used for evil, as in the case of Scientology, climate alarmism / denialism and other religions, or he can be used to promote noble causes. So, don't be overly proud of the appellation, "useful."

I'm no anarchist. Yes, I thought that two years ago, four years ago and in 2000, just after G.W. Bush was inaugurated. However, it's much worse since the Dimbulbocrats were elected (by useful idiots, what a coincidence!) to power.

You are oppressive, for two reasons: 1) your method here is cavalier, shrill and shallow, not allowing for any meaningful exchanges (in other words, a typical denier); and, 2) your views, if enacted into public policy, would enable the current crop of tyrants (Dimbulbocrats) to once and for all, well and truly, pin the little guy to the floor, with their iron bootheels firmly pressed against our necks. If you don't see this as the logical extension of your views, you prove the aphorism: "There is none so blind and he who will not see."

Damn - I gave you the option of appearing witty and clever - you should have said you meant the pun!
Good, tough question there. Am I a puppet master or a useful idiot? But why pick on Scientology? (is it because it has 'science' in it's name?) All religions are the same.
But of course, by framing your question using a digital analogy, you offered no other alternatives. So, if that's all I have, and since I am not a politician or anyone with a lot of power, I am going for the 'useful idiot' option. But at least I'm useful, which is more than I can say for some.
However, I didn't realise you were an anarchist. 'Screw every government in the world' huh? Did you think that 2 years ago? Or is it only because the Democrats are in power in the US now?
And I'm not sure who I am oppressing here though, since you can simply ignore me if you want, as I can you. But I won't do that. I'm having too much fun presenting logic and evidence and awaiting the shrill, uninformed opinions in return.

"Despot," in my view, could be used to mean any oppressor. You've certainly proven yourself oppressive.

No, I did not intend to make a pun.

Screw every government in the world. Governments and their over-reaching ambitions are the real problem facing mankind, not the CO2 levels in the atmosphere or the ocean.

The momentum was on the side of the deniers/alarmists for many years. However, the deniers have lost considerable ground with ClimateGate and its aftermath. One salutory effect of ClimateGate: Some scientists who were muzzled by the deniers early on have begun speaking out.

Don't worry. We'll never propose that you deniers are the equivalent of Holocaust deniers, or that you should be locked away for your opinions. However, I'm fairly certain that some of your leading lights will end up in jail.

In the denialism/alarmism community, as in Scientology, there are puppet masters and useful idiots. Either/or, just like the ones and zeroes in digital informatio. Which are you?

Despot huh? You do know what that word means right?
And I love your pun (you did mean it to be a pun about 'inconventiently located' didn't you?)
Not so sure about your assertion about the battle and the war though. I'm pretty convinced that every government in the world accepts the science, and are actively - if slowly - taking steps to address the issue. So, by that criteria..........

Someone else MAY see it - but if they are in a different country or have completely different surfing habit to you, they probably didn't. I certainly didn't, and I guess Steve didn't either - hence my explanation.
And I'm jealous about the beer - I'm still at work for 3 more hours.
