Mardi Tindal: Proving the insanity of global warmers

(Apologies to the National Post. We promise to never again excerpt so much of an article. But this is one of the funniest damn stories we’ve ever read.)

The Prophet Mardi Tindal

We’ve always known man-made global warming believers are nuts. And have we got a story here that will prove it to you.

Mardi Tindal is the newly elected moderator of the United Church of Canada. Before going forward with the story, we just wanted to share a tidbit from the church’s website, on Mardi:

The Moderator invites you to become a green community leader by reflecting deeply on soul, community, and creation, and by taking practical steps in greening your lifestyle, home, and church building.

That’s enough for a story in itself, but wait until you read more about this whack job. You see, she was a delegate to the Climate Summit in Copenhagen, and her life is forever changed due to her disappoint of its failure. Not politically, but psychologically. But don’t worry, she says she is not in a true clinical depression, but rather an “anxious despair.” It began one day while she was and her husband drove to church in Brantford, Ontario:

“I simply wept. My tears were quiet, but I spoke through them, and I was being listened to. My husband said, ‘There is great power in what you have just said, and it is a powerful message that makes clear why you are weeping.’”

“And I said, ‘Doug, I’m weeping for the millions of lives that have been lost as a result of what did and did not happen in Copenhagen,” Ms. Tindal said. “My experience was that I had a place to go with my tears and my lament … It’s an expression of pain for the world’s suffering.”

The author of the article, Joseph Brean, writes:

Climate change could have “significant negative effects on global mental health,” according to a new scientific report in the journal Psychological Medicine. It predicts that many of these negative effects will be felt not by those who are already mentally ill (although they will likely bear the brunt), but also by otherwise healthy people, such as Ms. Tindal, who will suffer “psychological distress, anxiety and traumatic stress.”

The author, U.K. psychiatrist Lisa Page, cites “altered patterns of infectious disease, injuries from severe weather events, food and water scarcity, and population displacement” as mechanisms by which global warming could cause “an increase in the overall burden of mental disorder worldwide.”

Dr. Page cites “preliminary evidence” of more extreme possibilities: that suicide increases above a certain temperature threshold; that schizophrenia increases as populations become more urban; and that “impulsivity and aggression could be triggered during periods of hot weather.”

But wait, we don’t have any new problems of severe weather events, food and water scarcity, and population displacement–Tindal is depressed because she fears what she believes will happen.

The article continues:

At services this Sunday at more than 200 United churches across Canada, a letter by Ms. Tindal was read to her congregations, describing how she was “heartbroken because it was clear to me, as it was to many of you, that the talks in Copenhagen needed to succeed, that it is no longer safe for us to go on as we have before,” and urging them to do “whatever you can imagine” to reduce carbon emissions.

“Our moment of opportunity came and then went, and here we are now, the fate of civilization and of millions of the planet’s life forms hanging by the frayed thread of inaction,” she wrote.

And then comes the real proof of her insanity and delusion:

“Like the prophets, like those in our faith tradition who express their own lament because they understand God’s lament, yes, I have been lamenting what did and did not happen,” Ms. Tindal said in the interview. “But lament leads to imagination, and we move through lament to hope.”

Most striking is her identification with Martin Luther King, Jr., and his Letter from Birmingham Jail, with its era-defining declaration of the “moral responsibility to disobey unjust laws,” which she took to Copenhagen for inspiration.

“He refused to wait and called on everyone to act. I too believe the time for waiting has run out,” she wrote.

She compares “those who would say faith leaders have no place in addressing the issue of climate change” with the “white church leaders” who said Rev. King “should stick to his knitting.”

“What if, instead of racial segregation, King had spoken about high greenhouse gas concentrations in the atmosphere? Would his words hold? It seems clear to me that they would ring loud and true,” she wrote.

The prophet Mardi Tindal: Nuts. Delusional. Self-absorbed. Global Warmer.

  1. Thomas Tidswell says:

If this story is about a real person claiming to have had “real-time” ideation, then the author/ideator is as they term it in the medical profession, a loonie.

  2. Hardy says:

She should rather weep for the millions of lives that are being forfeited in the third world by climate change evangelists actively preventing underdeveloped societies from gaining access to cheap coal fired electricity and modern industrial processes. It should be a requirement that all AGW advocates must first live for 1 year in a mud hut in central africa with no electricity, transport, medical care, building materials or communications.

  3. Bryan says:

Unfortunately those who require deprogramming don’t realize it.
They need intervention with a followup 12 step program.

  4. Atheist Ranter says:

Typical religious one sided burblings from a non scientific waste-of-space living her life trying to spread her codswallop to the rest of us in an effort to feel important and in some way worthwhile. Try again Mardi, for all our sakes because you’ve failed this time.

  5. Taruni says:

The theatrical performances these Climate Change goons had staged to get their ways:
1.The boy from Maldives who urged us not to murder him.
2.The Parliament which held an underwater cabinet meeting.
3.Commonwealth Conference just prior to COP15 and Queen Elizabeth’s speech (possibly written by Brown)which was composed and calculated to deliver the block vote of the Commonwealth to the Climate Change louts and goons.
4.Duping and corrupting of religious leaders including Dalai Lama(the religious leaders are easily duped for they are not sophisticated in the ways of the worldly or earthly)
I am sure I have missed many more such performances.Perhaps others would add to this list.

  6. JohnP says:

“while she was and her husband drove to church ” LOL Why not walk?

  7. Erica says:

Wow! This lady’s thought process makes my head hurt! People like her willfully bury their heads in the sand to prevent anyone from shattering their delusions. It’s not as if global warmers can’t educate themselves on the issue. What happened to the days when people examined the evidence on both sides of an issue and formed their own conclusions based on fact rather than propaganda and fantasy?!

  8. Erica says:

Yeah JohnP! Or ride bikes? LOL! Oh yeah and stop exhaling CO2?

  9. I think it’s fair comment that a lot of tree-huggers will see worsening symptoms in their mental delusions – they already had such issues before the world got wise at Copenhagen.

  10. polistra says:

I wish someone with plenty of money and influence could invent a new and convincing apocalyptic cult that doesn’t try to kill the rest of us.

As the Carbon Cult begins to collapse, these inadequate fools will need a new cult to grasp immediately and seamlessly. Otherwise their cognitive dissonance will be so painful that many of them will attempt to carry out the genocidal orders of High Priest Hansen.

    • Richard says:

We can always hope that THIS cult convinces it’s followers to commit suicide, like the Jimmy Jones group. Such a huge reduction in earths population would cut the CO2 output dramatically. They should do it ‘for the children’.

  11. dfbaskwill says:

I nominate a cult in the back country of Afghanistan. This will appease their desires to live in the 11th century and will keep them away from the rest of us for eternity.

  12. Dave McK says:

I’ve had pre-traumatic stress syndrome since Kyoto.
My problem is that I see things in black and white -
If you lie- you are a liar; if you steal- you are a thief.
    These are defining acts.
A person can wear a labcoat all his life, but nobody yells ‘hey scientist’ at a conman.
One thing I have learned through too much repetition is that you can not reason with irrational people (duh…) – they will have to be forcibly removed in a strait-jacket to their proper location.

You can’t make this stuff up! The comments are encouraging, though (OK, one of them was mine!)

  14. Koslowski says:

Remember, Al Gore offers training to church leaders in how to talk to their congregations about Global Warming!! He has all the major religions covered (except Gaia, because thats his proprietary religion I suppose).

No joke. Google it. Gore is infiltrating the churches in order to get at the sheeple.

    Scary stuff.

My rule of thumb, if Gore or Soros is for it, its gotta be bad for the rest of us. Words to live by.

  15. Koslowski says:

    Oh and one more thing…

This precious gem is actually from Stephen Schneider’s own website – the same bloke of Climategate fame! This peer reviewed paper PROVED that the sea levels around the Maldives are going DOWN! Not up!

    http://stephenschneider.stanford.edu/Publications/PDF_Papers/MornerEtAl2004.pdf

I’ve been to the Maldives. In the early 1990′s. Back then I was told this country would cease to exist in 20 years. Um okay. Then why are they building more hotels like crazy? Capitalists are the most pragmatic, realistic people on earth, putting large amounts of capital at risk with multimillion dollar hotel complexes. Why build in a country about to submerge? Lawl.

Science and wishful thinking do not often colocate.
