BREAKING! Penn State finds Michael Mann innocent of suppressing or falsifying data
Just this morning, we published a piece from Penn State Live which said Michael Mann was to face further investigation. But now we see the New Scientist is out with very detailed story which says he is off the hook! And here is the report to prove it.
The internal enquiry has found that Mann did not “participate in, directly or indirectly, any actions with an intent to suppress or to falsify data”. For the full report, click here (pdf).
Nor did he “delete, conceal or otherwise destroy emails, information and/or data” relating to the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change’s 2007 report. One email that has received much media attention was sent to Mann by Phil Jones, then director of the UEA’s Climatic Research Centre, on 29 May 2008. It asked Mann to delete some emails regarding the 2007 IPCC report.
In the months since the email leak, Mann has repeatedly said that he did not heed to Jones’ request. Penn State’s enquiry confirmed this.
The report is not clear about whether Mann’s behaviour has harmed the public trust in science. It cites Penn State’s official ethical standards, which says faculty have an obligation to maintain high ethical standards in order to foster public trust in science. It then goes on to discuss the fallout from the email leak which, it says, may have polarised the public into two camps: one that believes the leak undermines climate science and another that does not.
“After careful consideration of all the evidence and relevant materials, the inquiry committee could not make a definitive finding whether there exists any evidence to substantiate that Dr. Mann did engage in, or participate in, directly or indirectly, any actions that deviated from accepted practices within the academic community,” reads the report. This final point will now be at the centre of a further investigation.
“This is very much the vindication I expected since I am confident I have done nothing wrong,” Mann told New Scientist. “I fully support the additional inquiry which may be the best way to remove any lingering doubts.”
Who would have thunk it? Five tenured professors find fellow tenured professor not guilty.
This investigation handled by The Three Blind Mice…..
Strangely, I feel this may turn out to be good news.We will go after Mann even harder now. The more Mann and Pachauri and the other pond life hang on the more the public will have clear targets to focus their contempt towards. Clearly, Mann, his corrupt university and his co-conspirators are digging in for the long haul. It gives all of us who want to do a thorough job on them more time to gather our legal forces for the big battles that are coming.
I am so so surprised at this outcome -not. It could be hardy any other decision. It does not matter that Mann is guilty. It’s protect the ‘global warming’ gravy train at all costs….
Good summary from the Telegraph:
Michael Mann as innocent as OJ – possibly more so – finds internal Penn State investigation

As I posted on another site:
Pass the (bucks)! An investigation determines that an investigation may be warranted! But only a LITTLE investigation, mind you. We wouldn’t want a full investigation. That might lead to a bigger investigation of the first investigation. PSU is screwed. I’m signing up for the eventual class action suit for the thousands (millions?) they planned on taking from me. Bastards. But I still support the track team!
Hogwash! That isn’t going to fly. Under oath, before a congressional committee, being examined by miniority counsel. Nothing less wil do. The irony in this finding is what it says about current “accepted scientific standards” When we say a “jury of your peers” we are not talking about fellow thieves.
It wasn’t hard to see that coming, but it doesn’t do anything to give him credibility, it just destroys the credibility of his employers.
I won’t vote for a party involved in this charade, and in the UK that doesn’t give you much choice but if you visit the UKIP website you’ll see Godfrey Bloom tell it like it is in the European Parliament.

That’s what I want to see at Westminster.
You could expect this result from “his peers”.
This conspiracy is so huge ,world scale, it will take Sizzle to break it ,use Futerra tactics.
So who will be the sacrifical lamb now Jones or Pachuari?
Penn State lied and science died.
Tentacles of corruption have indeed spread very very wide and very very deep!
Careful. Dr. Pachauri might want to use that line in his next porn novel….”Deep Climate”
Eye-wash… cover up …. denial …. trial…. no substance …. closed..
clean chit (shit)
This is not a matter of some relatively uneducated privates carrying out the dirty work assigned by their officers. In fact, the IPCC chair is a joke. He would have in any normal environment (i.e., any org other than the UN) been rejected as a potential candidate to lead any group of real scientists. In any case these so-called scientists need to be held responsible for their contributions to this scam.
Talk about groupthink. Horowitz is one of the few who would not be surprised by what is now coming out of our universities. The mission of hIgher education is supposed to be dedicated to teaching students how to think …. not what to think.
I’LL PEER REVIEW YOURS IF YOU PEER REVIEW MINE!
Penn State used to be a fine institution.
