Republicans laugh at Obama’s SOTU statement of “overwhelming evidence” on climate change
It was difficult, but as good citizens of the United States of America, we had to watch Dear Leader give his State of the Union Address. There was so much bullshit thrown about I’m surprised there were not more laughter-filled moments by the Republicans like this reaction to his statement, “I know there are those who disagree with the overwhelming scientific evidence on climate change.” But if we’re only allowed one moment like this, we’re glad it was on climate change.
But where’s Joe Wilson when you really need him? We were hoping he would make an encore last night.
Obama-et-al are supposed to be intelligent people.
In light of Climategate, how can they all go on as if AGW is a fact?
Do they not read?
Are they really that ignorant?
We certainly know they are arrogant.
I suppose their egos will not let them admit they are wrong.
Now the Calgary scientists want to put sun-block in the atmosphereto stop AGW.
Sounds like the reverse of the 1970′s when they wanted to spred carbon black on the glaciers to stop global cooling.
What next?
Good Grief Charlie Brown!!!
Unfortunately, most only read/watch the mainstream media, so they don’t know the story. This is one of the biggest stories in history, but try and find anything other than the occasional MSM story on it. Without the media on watch, very few know what’s going on. We do, but we’re small in number.
I can tell you that when I’m at social gatherings, even with other somewhat politically savvy people, including conservatives, I’d say only one out of ten have heard the term climategate, or could rattle off a fact or two of AGW skepticism.
From our view in the US, it appears the news in Britain is covering it decently. But here in the US, once in a while you might see something on Fox News when they are not covering kidnapped girls, or isometimes in the WSJ, or maybe an article in a second or third tier newspaper as an editorial. But not much beyond that.
The lack attention by the MSM is disturbing. A lot of it is based upon political ideologies. I found the following article interesting:
http://www.huffingtonpost.com/nathan-harden/the-death-of-air-america_b_433208.html
Nathan Harden writes in The Huffington Post that although they lost Air America Radio, they still have NPR. That speaks volumes.
Editor
Thanks for that. You are right of course.
I am a Canadian and have been constantly e-mailing my Federal Member of Parliament, and my Provincial Member of the Legislature as well as the Environment Ministers and the Alberta Premier for the last few years.
I have asked them to read artcles on ClimateGate and elsewhere.
They steadfastly refuse. They, too, do not want to admit they are wrong.
All they ever do is send me the stock answer that their Executive Assistants have on file for anything mentioning Climate Change
in the heading.
Here is what they say:
“Meanwhile, the Government of Alberta maintains our position that the possible risks to
our environment, economy and social structure warrant progressive, immediate action
to reduce emissions. The climate is not static and as a government we must prepare
for possible changes to water supplies and infrastructure.
The bottom line remains that we are willing and have a responsibility and the ability to
address environmental impacts as a world energy supplier. Alberta is committed to a
clean energy future, which remains our objective in Copenhagen.
The Government of Alberta’s investment in large-scale carbon capture and storage
projects demonstrates our long-term commitment to transformative change in Alberta’s
industrial sector. Clean energy production will be achieved through the application of
energy technology leadership such as our investment in development and
implementation of gasification technology and carbon capture and storage. In a world
counting on energy from all sources, Alberta’s advantage lies in being able to produce
and consume fossil fuels in a cleaner way, and our commitment extends to the
increasing role of alternative and renewable energy.”
Blah Blah Blah, and it never changes, year after year.
They have no guts to say “Hold on here. Let’s review this”
After that comment, I’m amazed someone didn’t yell “you lie”.
Give Obama some credit. At least he made some people laugh. I forget his exact words but he was right when he spoke about the need of a shift to green energy, “It only makes sense”. That is true when taking the environment into consideration and peak oil for example.
What is wrong and very disturbing is international leaders forcing onerous cap and trade legislation based on the discredited IPCC AR4 report. Go back to the drawing board and come up with something legitimate. The public will not accept Cap and Trade legislation when they know that the reason for it is based on dishonesty and fabrication. You can bet that Obama and other leaders know that we know what they are up to. The big question is do they care? If anybody watched the SOTU, Obama himself started laughing when the others started laughing. It’s all BS, they know it and we know it.
Editor,
I agree with you. I have noticed the MSM is starting to report it but only in a very casual way. The National Post/Financial Post has probably done the best job in Canada but they are not doing the critical reporting that this issue deserves. This should be front page news but the opposition leaders are focussing on other things of lesser importance.
The politicians and MSM media cannot hide this forever. I expect the general public will be furious if and when Cap and Trade legislation comes through. It will be at that point the politicians and MSM will have to try and justify their lack of action.
Obama is so arrogant, he just mocks us.
Arrgggh! I feel like I’m living in a bad TV Horror movie from the ’70s. Take, for instance, The Stepford Wives – Poor Katherine Ross was the only one aware of the creepy fact men were killing their wives off and turning them into perfect housewife robots: beautiful big-boobed automatons who’d never disagree, bake lots of cookies and shout out “You are the king!” in bed (only later did I realize this was pure feminist propaganda).
We are the Katherine Ross characters, trying to reach out to anyone who’ll listen only to be told we’re insane or ignored all together – even when we know better. Our own president gets up before the country and mocks us.
Without the MSM’s eye on this science scandal it seems to most to not exist. That’s why it’s important for us to use the internet to keep on this. I have even tried to post things for my Facebook Friends, only to be called “embarrassing”. I don’t care, I want people – like most of my FB friends who only listen to NPR, watch Olbermann and Maddow and give to Green Peace – to know that there is information out there that debunks their “solid science”.
My blog, until recently, was just a place I posted goofy stories about my life in California – but as soon as this scandal broke, and the media began spreading disinformation or stayed silent, I have posted about nothing else since. I don’t want my daughter growing up with the idea that truth is pliable, whatever the media tells us is truth is fact. Sadly, many believe that.
I refuse to become Katherine Ross’ character, just another robot with my brain eaten-away by this Green movement, as if it’s not a a huge cabal of lies.
*I posted this video on my blog with credit to Climategate.com, since this is where I found it. Thanks!
Right! Then, we’re treated to an article like this:
http://www.scientificamerican.com/article.cfm?id=negating-climategate
Stay the course, Michele. Our numbers are growing by the hour!
Joe Keough,
I read that article with disgust. What a rag! This is rehashed crap from the mouths of very scientists above, with a good dash of circular thinking.
Pathetically amateur journalism at best; the most puke-worthy propaganda at worst.
And people don’t question!?
Read the SA article comments! The comments, for the most part, show the snowjob is not working. Many in my family are blue-collar workers, not overly aware of world events or politics. All of them do
have common sense and a computer. They all (28 in number) know
Climategate details and have read the excuses from Mann, Jones, et all. They can tell when one is caught with a hand in the cookie jar.
We all “get it”. SA knows the truth…why are they defending the obvious?
George, I’m so glad to hear you know many who get it. And I did read the comments in the SA article, they’re (for the most part) usually way more enlightened than the journalists (who hock climate change, anyway)
Unfortunately, I live in California and many of my friends only listen to NPR, Maddow, read Daily Kos… and think I am loony to question climate science.
I found a few blogs yesterday where people were still talking themselves into circles about the cause and effect of CO2, and trying to sound very intelligent – but they were happy to trust “the majority of scientists”. Argh!
Anyway, you (and the SA commenters) have given me hope. Thanks!
And did you catch the jab at the Supreme Court (video) too ? Makes me feel like I’m living in Venezuela — the attacking the Supreme Court justices publicly.
Obama is a dangerous man. Not because he’s strong and getting what he wants, but because he’s a narcissistic ideologue who is backed into a corner, never having been in this position (unloved) in his life. Who the hell knows what he and his Marxist czars do?
The political elites of the US saw the possibilities for themselves in this scam some time back. Of course those on the Left are what they are but even the right started to tack into this foul wind. Both candidates in the 2008 Presidential election favored Cap and Trade legislation as a way to mitigate the imaginary dangers of grossly inflated AGW. Imagine yourself being in a public leadership position and having gone on the record numerous times to impose financial penalties on every person in the country in the name of a scam. How do you walk back something like that? Video after video of you proclaiming your belief in something that doesn’t exist. They went so far out on this limb that they cannot find a way back which leaves their credibility intact. I suggest we make it clear to them that now is the time to say “we’ve all been scammed and I’m going to do something about it” anything less and the rising tide of public outrage will wash them away.
Michele,
Post your Blog site please. This is like a David and Goliath story. We are not going away. Correct me if I am wrong but I believe the majority of people want legitimate environmental legislation including R & D into green energy. The politicans are going to be forced into discussing this eventually. Some MSM will be given credit for at least mentioning this. Those that completely ignored
this will get the credit as well.
Climategate, I hope you don’t mind my asking for another blog site. Let’s do this for Michelle’s daughter and our children. Maybe Michelle’s friends will clue in when they see the support she is getting.
No problem here. The more the merrier, and hell, it’s good to have a attractive woman hanging around all us men anyway. I was starting to wonder if all skeptics on the site where men.
Triple Bay,
You can click on my name to get to my website. I have it linked. But if that doesn’t work, here it is:
http://aprilbaby.typepad.com/a_california_life/
Climategate has nothing to worry about. My blog is just filled with rantings of a crazed mother/business owner, saddened by society and the lack of respect for truth.
Climategate, thanks for the great amount of update info. Plus, I love the Twitter Scroll.
Glad to have you on board, Michele. I see you live just a few hours south of me (SLO). I saw that you wanted to write. If you have any original, new articles use the contact form and send them into us. The same goes for all the brilliant people in the comments–if you want to write an article, just let me know through the contact form.
To the Editor:
I love SLO! And it’s great to know there are more clear thinkers in California. I don’t know any personally, but I’m finding people like you on the internet lately.
Thanks for the above compliment, too!
Michele,
I tried googling you but I couldn’t find you. he he
I will post on your site but mama polar bear (wife) is going to create some household global warming if I don’t get some work done.
