The Independent discovers (half of) the real world
The Independent proclaims “Think-tanks take oil money and use it to fund climate deniers.” Okay. Fine. So when is the followup that will just as loudly tell us of all the think-tanks, special interests, companies and entire governments that fund climate fantasy believers? We won’t hold our breath.
Now, if anyone feels like throwing some of that anti-AGW money around we’ll take some.

Perhaps they should highlight this, especially if they wish to do something about people who promote the use of toxic products
“It has also emerged that Teri’s biggest single sponsor, BP India, which has provided £6 million, paid for dinner and drinks at an event publicising Dr Pachauri’s debut novel. A BP spokesman said it was entirely legitimate to fund the dinner, the company having enjoyed a “long association with Dr Pachauri”.
He confirmed that the firm gave Teri $9.5 million (£6.1 million) between 2006 and 2009 for planting 8,000 hectares of jatropha, a type of bush, as part of a bio-diesel research project.”
Bio-fuels produce CO2 – it’s chemistry, but worse than that, this plant is also a bio hazard.
“Characteristic of many members of the family Euphorbiaceae, Jatropha plants contain several toxic compounds, including lectin, saponin, carcinogenic phorbol, and a trypsin inhibitor. Despite this, the seeds are occasionally eaten after roasting, which reduces some of the toxicity. Its sap is a skin irritant, and ingesting as few as three untreated seeds can be fatal to humans. In 2005 Western Australia banned Jatropha gossypifolia as invasive and highly toxic to people and animals.”
Isn’t that an interesting thing. An environmental organisation being paid by an oil company to grow a crop, that would be banned in any Western country, in an underdeveloped country.
Remind me again what Dr Pachauri is doing to the environment.
There’re grasping at straws and strawmen as they see the end approaching.
Wow! they are at the bottom of the ammo box for sure.
It’s very simple. So simple in fact that the intellectuals at the Independent can’t see it right under their upturned noses…
Take a look at Al Gore’s “Inconvenient Truth movie.” Look at the slick packaging, the extravagant production of the film, the emotion- invoking special effects, the global distribution of the DVD, the marketing. All obviously done by highly- paid professionals. Look at Al Gore, jet-setting all over the world in his private jet, rubbing elbows with celebs.
Now contrast that with Gore’s climate-change counterpart Lord Monkton. The guy flies to Australia on a commercial jet, rents out a ballroom in some hotel and uses home-made power-point slides on his own laptop to argue his point of view.
If Big Oil is behind guys like Monkton, they must be hiding it very well.
Jatropha gossypifolia — can this stuff be used to decrease the population and bring it within the limit set by the NEW…………?
It is common Marxist fare to attribute opposition to socialism to the selfishness of moneyed interests, and that has always been utter nonsense since said moneyed interests can pseudo-invest in government plunder as well as in defensive measures –or for that matter really invest in productive activities.
That is just what has been happening actually, as most political pseudo-investments by private firms relating to alleged “global warming” have been made on the plunderers’ side.
But this error is only an inability to understand basic finance.
The utter perversion of this kind of speech is that private money is honest money whereas government money is the product of criminal violence.
The “public” money which goes to warmist propaganda is STOLEN money, stolen from the taxpayers.
And there has been a thousand times more stolen money for warmist propaganda than there has been honest money for normal people.
That is why we would have been crushed long ago if we didn’t have reality on our side.
That is also why it is wrong to speak here of the pseudo-democratic Socialists discovering “only half” of reality.
The omission is much worse than that.

Question? Does anybody know how the scientific community is getting it’s money to do research? Do you know how governmental and industry related scientific organizations select the scientific research proposals that qualify as being solid enough for subsidizing?
Do you know of any independent (non-governmental, or industry related) organization that finances independent research so that the results are free from political agenda of governments and industry ? If such an organization exists, how is their method of subsidizing research? and how do they make sure that there is no politics involved in the choice of research? Where did they get their money? if you have an answer you can let me know I need to know if there is still independent research in this world. Otherwise I can not trust any publication stating: researchers have found….e.g. that a glass of wine is good for you? is this true? and why then, and who financed that? I am desperately in need of knowing about these things.
