‘Tofu free Tuesday’ makes more sense than ‘Meat free Monday’
If you want to be a vegetarian that’s your business and I won’t persecute you for it. All I ask is that vegetarians allow me the same courtesy.
By means of some bizarre and pseudo-scientific word association, the AGW crowd have deemed that vegetarianism is countering Global warming. I’ve said it before, and I’ll say it again, because anyone who can touch the end of their nose with a finger, should be aware that not eating a burger does nothing to reduce methane. Unless you have the digstive system of a ruminant, you don’t produce methane in any meaningful amount (my brother excluded). If you own a cow and then shoot it, you will reduce future emissions (please don’t try this at home).
I mention this because UK celebrities appear to think they can jet between their London apartments and Los Angeles mansions on jets to preach to Americans about how to save the world, as they show off their green haloes, refusing the boeuf bourgignon on the first class menu, and leave carbon footprints the size of an elephant herd over the planet. They call it ‘Meat Free Monday‘.
To reduce cow methane, you have to kill them but that doesn’t sound so nice, and ignores the fact that a very large number of the world cow population exists in India where it is religiously and largely legally forbidden to kill them, but what’s common sense got to do with it?
Now this is the good bit, from an article entitled “How being vegetarian does more harm to the environment than eating meat“:
It is a claim that could put a dent in the green credentials of vegetarians: Meat-free diets can be bad for the planet.
Environmental activists and vegetarians have long taken pleasure in telling those who enjoy a steak that livestock farming is a major source of harmful greenhouse gases.
When you deprive yourself of something for no good reason, it’s called religion. No problem with that, just don’t call it science or pretend it makes a difference to anything but your ego.
Doesn’t this sound like more deniers lies?
…..the report was commissioned by the environmental group WWF….
These aren’t deniers, are they?
The Cranfield University study found that switching from British-bred beef and lamb to meat substitutes imported from abroad such as tofu and Quorn would increase the amount of land cultivated, raising the risk of forests being destroyed.
Production methods for meat substitutes can be energy intensive and the final products tend to be highly processed
Rice cultivation is another major source of methane, but for some reason it’s rude to suggest that vegetarians are destroying the planet.
Termites produce significant amounts of methane, so I’m plumping for ‘Termite Free Tuesday’, if that’s okay with the AGW crowd ?

I purchased a farm out of high school. In years running it using organic methods, we relied on cow manoo for fertilizer. If we want to avoid petro, the best and primary fertilizer around is animal waste. Organic farms depend on animal waste in massive quantities.
Most of the off balance issues regarding the environment are coming from city dwellers that do not understand the biological cycle of life.
City dwellers and their imaginations will not feed the planet. They want to set rules and those do not work.
Well, actually, it is the other way around. City dwellers have minimal impact, compared to the farmers. In fact, the single most harmful for natural habitats human activity is agriculture, it is orders of magnitude worse that all fossil fuel burning and industry. Even in CO2 production – losses of CO2 from the soil under over human history agriculture are twice that of all other activities. And yes, I am talking about organic farming, which is about 8-10 times worse than conventional without any proven health benefits. Guess what destroyed Ester island and Sahara area.
Tomorrow night it will be Beef – it’s what’s for dinner!
It does not matter if you like it, hate it, believe it or deny it, ATMOSPHERIC CO2 (Plant Food) is the GIVER OF ALL LIFE ON EARTH. (Anybody who denies this FACT needs to study the CARBON CYCLE)
The word “ORGANIC” means “CONTAINS CARBON” as every living thing on this Planet does (Human Animal Plant & Fish) and they all got their CARBON (in the Human case 20% of all Humans is CARBON) originally from the atmosphere in the form of Atmospheric CO2 (Plant Food). Like it Hate it Believe it Deny it ALL LIFE FORMS ON EARTH ARE CARBON BASED PERIOD.
And Earth’s atmosphere is currently CO2 impoverished, at less than 400ppmv, all living things would benefit with more of it not less.
To apply the term “GREENHOUSE” to Earth’s Atmosphere is SCIENTIFIC STUPIDITY, Earth’s Atmosphere does not work like a GREENHOUSE. A Greenhouse or Glasshouse is a building that comercial growers grow among other things tomatoes in and most of them PUMP IN MORE CO2 to enhance growth, and they do not mess around, they DOUBLE or TREBLE the CO2 volume, like it hate it believe it deny it….IT IS A FACT.
And it does not matter if the Atmospheric CO2 is Man Made or Natural (most of it is NATURAL) it is still the same molecule 1 atom CARBON 2 atoms OXYGEN…..PLANT FOOD.
By the way without the warming effect of CO2 & WATER VAPOUR Earth’s average temperature would be VERY MUCH COLDER, but CO2 is already doing MOST of it’s warming ability, the FIRST 20ppmv, so the fact that we are nearly at 400ppmv adding more will have an UNMEASURABLE effect on Earth’s average temperature but a BIG POSITIVE EFFECT for all life on Earth.
