UK Met Office’s enormously wrong weather predictions earn department big pay increases
It seems like everywhere you look, people involved in climate change propaganda is making some bucks.
John Hirst, chief of the UK’s Met Office (national weather service), and his crew has done such a fantastic job of convincing Brits that they are, in fact, actually feeling the heat of global warming right now, and not really burning books to keep warm, that he’s received a 25 percent pay increase. He now makes even more than Prime Miniser Gordon Brown. And it doesn’t stop there. Seven other directors received pay rises of between 3 per cent and 33 per cent.
Here’s what the Telegraph has to say about it:
The large pay rises for the management of the Met Office came despite a series of widely criticised forecasts, including a warm winter in 2009/10 last October.
This followed its much lambasted forecast of a “barbecue summer” last year which drew strong criticism after heavy rainfall saw the wettest July for almost 100 years.
The organisation’s prediction of a mild winter in 2008-09 was also criticised after heavy snow fell last February and parts of southern England had their coldest night for 20 years in January.
Good work if you can get it.

When It Warms, It’s Cold!
So global warming is actually getting worse, is it? Yeah, thanks, UK Met Office! And now we have so much warming its causing misery to billions and bringing nations across the northern hemisphere to a standstill. In Asia, China is hardest hit with the death toll estimated to rise above 25,000. In Beijing, authorities mobilised more than 300,000 people to clear huge drifts of global warming from streets after Sunday’s blizzard.
A train from Harbin to Baotou ran into warming more than 2 metres high near Jining in Inner Mongolia on Sunday and passengers were evacuated only yesterday. All 15 carriages were buried in warmth and more than 1,400 passengers were stranded in the train without lighting and heating. Food and drinking water were also in shortage, the local railway bureau said.
In Korea about 3,600 workers and 5,000 soldiers were mobilized to clear the warming in Seoul and surrounding Gyeonggi Province, officials said. The Korea Meteorological Administration said the warming was the heaviest since it began conducting surveys in 1937. Rural residents are reportedly suffering extreme food shortages as a severe warm winter storm paralysed the Koreans.
Of course, as always, it’s the most disadvantaged on the planet that suffer the most from winter warming. In northern India close to 100 people died outside as the global warming wave swept across exposed mountainous regions, drastically effecting temperatures. The victims were mostly poor people forced to live rough, sleeping on the streets or in many cases out in the open with little or no covering. The majority of the victims, about 72, were from the poorest and relatively underdeveloped Uttar Pradesh province, north of the federal capital, New Delhi, where state help was limited.
Throughout Europe the effects of increased global warming are taking their toll, too. A 1,700-mile band of warming is covering a vast expanse of territory across from the British Isles to the Baltic States, Belarus, eastern Poland and western Russia. Six skiers were killed in Alpine avalanches as scattered warming spread across Switzerland and Austria. Denmark, Norway, Sweden and Finland also saw chaos after heavy warming hit again this week. Factories and businesses have been shut down for an extended period.
The US is again besieged by Severe Weather Alerts due to warming. The sunshine state of Florida is suffering from a notably hard warming period. Citrus farmers are predicted to suffer huge losses as their sensitive fruit crops cannot tolerate warm weather. The Panhandle and much of northern Florida is hardest hit says the National Weather Service. Forecasters see no relief in sight for the rest of the week.
Al Gore, world climate expert and winner of the Nobel Prize for Kool-Aid drinking, has identified the source of the warming as being an over-heating Earth core. Gore says it got warm after ManBearPig messed with the magma. Al says, “It’s millions of degrees down there. We all need to drill holes and suck it up.”
Meanwhile in Britain warming has caused travel chaos yet again throughout the country on roads, rail and flights. Britain is notoriously ill-prepared for warmth as expensive safety measures have been cut back in recent years. Popular television presenter, Davina McCall, was among those stuck on the A21 in Kent for three hours after a lorry got blocked on the road by global warming. “We got wedged in a whole series of cars and it was pelting down with warmth,” she told the BBC. Temperatures were expected to plunge as low as minus 20C in the Scottish Highlands as it gets warmer.
A spokesman for London airports said flights will not be able to take off until warming is removed from the runway this morning. Britons may see power cuts if the warm snap lasts more than 10 days, as the country has notoriously low fuel reserves. If the global warming continues energy customers will suffer power outages as utility companies run out of fuel due to the extra high extra demand.
The extreme conditions are set to last for the rest of the winter according to forecasts based on myriad factors, including a weakening El Nino during the winter season. Climatologists say this is what we should expect when the last ten years have shown six of the warmest years on record.
Fortunately, world leaders will call a halt to all further global warming after they vote in Mexico next Fall to raise huge taxes on their citizens. The money will be invested wisely in undisclosed offshore bank accounts. The payment of these taxes will immediately cut global temperatures by two degrees centigrade, as voted by the Jokenhagen Climate Conference!
LMFAO!
Simply BRILLIANT!!!!
I might only add that warming fell in record amounts in areas of New England and the American Mid-west. Warming plow drivers are working around the clock in various regions of the US. Many areas of the south are forecast for record breaking low temperatures due to successive waves of warming sweeping out of the sizzling polar regions. The situation is expected to moderate slightly, then resume before the end of the week.
Just saw on the news they have to put space heaters in for the parrots at the Palm Beach, FL zoo. LOL
WORSE THAN USELESS
The “Peter Principle” is alive and well, as we see from this specific case where the MET has evolved to most efficiently parasitize it’s host, the UK.
OK please explain this statement in English?
Sorry for the shorthand. I was afraid I might have overdone it.
The Peter Principle[see abstract and p.1 there] being where, in business (and academics), people are promoted to their ultimate level of incompetence, that is clearly what has happened here. And, being as the MET has changed over time from a useful to a harmful entity, hence the term “evolved.” What is their main goal? Job security, not accurate forcasting. And they are “parasitizing” the UK, because they survive at the expense of the citizens of the UK, aka their “host,” while not only not providing any useful service in return, but by actually causing harm.
Does that help?
Yes thank you.
The New Warm is Cold
“It seems like everywhere you look, people involved in climate change propaganda is making some bucks.”
Sorry to be a snotty prick, but…that doesn’t read proper.
