United Nations backtracks on Climategate email scandal, will not investigate

Last week Dr. Rajendra Pachauri, chairman of the UN's Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC), promised an investigation into the Climategate email scandal. Today at a press conference at the United Nations Climate Change Conference (COP15) in Copenhagen, Pachauri backtracked entirely saying, “I want to clarify that this is not an investigation. After trying to ignore the brewing firestorm, the IPCC was finally forced to acknowledge the event last week. “We certainly are going to take a look at the whole lot of it and then are going to take a position on it,” Pachauri said. “We certainly don’t want to brush anything under the carpet. This is a serious issue and we will certainly look into it in detail.”

Not any more.
